While painting may be the most DIY friendly of all home improvement skills, it’s often one of the most dreaded tasks of all. I’m one of those people who will go to great lengths to avoid painting, often choosing alternatives that are technically harder to accomplish, but worth the effort.
Take this small bathroom for example. All of the surfaces are covered in sheets of mosaic tiles. (they’re still called mosaic, even though there is no ‘pattern’)
Installing tiles like this is easy(ish) and the result is stunning! It’s also much longer lasting, totally waterproof, and potentially easier to keep clean. (depending on the grout color and grout sealer or lack thereof)
Build Your Own Bathtub
Take a look at the tub in this picture (from housetohome) and you’ll see that it’s not your traditional bathtub.
You can custom build a tub like this with regular framing and tile skills, potentially saving a few bucks while opening up a much wider range of design possibilities due to the complete elimination of size and shape restraints.
This little bathroom is finished off with a great looking bamboo vanity with an integrated sink.
